PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deontay DJ (ranked 1547 p4p, 1404 weight class) and Lou Slugger (ranked 197 p4p, 175 weight class). DJ's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Lil Scrappy - No Problem. Slugger has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Deontay DJ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lou Slugger!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slugger slips a jab and a cross from DJ.
Slugger now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
DJ has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Desert Fitness & Training (14 Elite Coaches) in the buildup to the fight.
DJ throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
DJ thuds his right hand into Slugger's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Deontay DJ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slugger misses with an uppercut. DJ saw that one coming.
And DJ counters with a quick kick to the body but Slugger blocks it.
DJ moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
DJ throws a body shot but no joy.

DJ has closed the distance and engaged Slugger in a clinch.
Slugger throws a head punch that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A body shot lands from Slugger.
DJ prevents a body shot from Slugger.
Slugger lands a body punch in the clinch.
DJ has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Slugger is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Slugger tried to land a shot to the body but connects with DJ's elbow.

Slugger breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Slugger blocks a head kick by DJ.
DJ ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
That kick from Slugger tenderised DJ's leg. DJ is trying to keep his angry face on.
DJ throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
enabling Slugger to counter with a crisp jab.
Slugger digs a good body shot into DJ's ribs.
Slugger lands with a nice body kick.
DJ is breathing heavily.

Slugger drops DJ with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but DJ looks back up at him and smiles so Slugger waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like Deontay DJ has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Slugger punishes DJ's body with a nice straight punch.
Slugger is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches DJ flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! DJ is out cold! Slugger holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Lou Slugger decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
