Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Matrix (ranked 3104 p4p, 3563 weight class) and Kambei Shimada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shimada has chosen Seven Samurai as his entrance music. Kambei Shimada has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Matrix! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kambei Shimada! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimada moves into range and clinches up with Matrix. A short uppercut from Shimada. Shimada lands on the inside with an uppercut. Matrix tries to pull guard but Shimada won't allow it.
Matrix is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Shimada lands on the inside with an uppercut. Shimada lands with a light punch inside. Shimada lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Shimada keeps control of Matrix as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Shimada lands a body shot in the clinch.
Matrix wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Matrix. That's going to take a lot out of him. A short right from Shimada on the inside. Shimada lands a shoulder strike. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shimada lands with a light punch inside. Shimada is trying to trip Matrix. He has hold of a leg but Matrix is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Shimada persists though and gets the takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Matrix trying to control the position.
Shimada is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Shimada looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shimada won't allow Matrix to sweep him here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Matrix had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shimada defends it easily. Shimada engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Matrix is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Shimada clinches up against the cage. Shimada lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Matrix backwards. Still in the clinch, Shimada scores with a nice short uppercut. Shimada lands on the inside with an uppercut. Shimada scores with a hook to the body. Shimada working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Matrix is rocked! Matrix blocking some punches.
Oh Matrix is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Matrix blocks an uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matrix blocks a punch to the side of the head.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Shimada. Shimada lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Matrix or not. Matrix is breathing heavily. Shimada gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Shimada works a leg free and moves into half guard. Shimada content to control rather than advance. Let's hope that Shimada has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Shimada is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Shimada controlling the pace for now. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Shimada. Matrix seems to have got his legs back now. Matrix tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shimada controlling the position easily from mount. Matrix really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Kambei Shimada dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Matrix tries to close the distance and clinch but Shimada swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Shimada has managed to clinch.
Matrix is looking for a takedown. Matrix is trying to break free. A nice right hand lands inside from Shimada. Shimada lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Shimada dips a shoulder and cracks Matrix with a mighty uppercut! Matrix falls back against the cage and Shimada unloads with a barrage of strikes! Matrix is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Shimada screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kambei Shimada! Kambei Shimada opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
