Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Semba Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takeo Arai!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arai slips under a jab from Rua.
Arai slips a straight right by Rua.
Rua chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Arai can pounce on him.
Arai misses with a low kick.
Rua is looking to counter punch.
Arai slips a jab from Rua.
Arai throws a leg kick
and Rua counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Takeo Arai has been cut.
Arai throws a push kick but Rua slaps the foot to one side.
A jab from Rua misses.
Arai pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd cheers as Arai lands an impressive looking overhand right. Rua doesn't seem phased though.
Nice body kick from Arai.
Arai throws a leg kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Arai.
Arai throws a lazy head kick
enabling Rua to counter with a crisp jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Arai throws a head kick that Rua semi-blocks.
It looks like Semba Rua has been cut.
Rua on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Arai lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Nice uppercut lands for Rua. That snapped Arai's head back.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Arai uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rua.
Arai scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Rua pounces like a tiger and cracks Arai with a vicious hook! Arai is down but not out! Rua follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Semba Rua!
An out of breath Semba Rua thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
