This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 19 wins and 11 losses; Dick Diaz! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 25 wins and 16 losses; Paul Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Diaz closes the distance and pushes Hunt back into the cage.

Diaz gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Hunt is holding on to half guard well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Diaz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunt keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Diaz is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Westside Martial Arts that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Diaz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diaz is on top in guard.

Diaz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Diaz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hunt pulls Diaz in close to prevent any damage.

Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunt swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hunt controls Diaz momentarily but Diaz frees himself.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Diaz content to stall in guard here.
Hunt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Diaz controls Hunt momentarily but Hunt frees himself.

Hunt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hunt looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Diaz is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hunt is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Diaz is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Diaz is refusing to be controlled, as Hunt sits in half guard.

Diaz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hunt's guard.

Hunt tries to improve position but can't.

The referee asks Diaz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Diaz prefers to stall for the moment though.
Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunt keeps working.
Hunt stops Diaz from passing to mount.
Hunt regains half guard.
Hunt is trying is best to control the position here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz is thwarting Hunt's attempts to control the position.
Hunt won't allow Diaz to pass to mount.

Hunt wants to control but Diaz is keeping busy.
Hunt tries to get to full guard but Diaz has control of the leg.
Hunt is controlling Diaz's trapped leg to prevent Diaz from advancing to side control.
