Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Souppe (ranked 2858 p4p, 4200 weight class) and Alexei Rodionovich (ranked 389 p4p, 528 weight class). Rodionovich has chosen Svarga & Drygva - Volnitsa as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruno Souppe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexei Rodionovich! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Donatello Bradman and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Souppe dives in for a single leg takedown but Rodionovich sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Rodionovich throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Souppe blocks it with crossed arms. Souppe managing to block the knees to the body from Rodionovich.

We've been hearing reports that Souppe has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Rodionovich misses with a knee strike.

Rodionovich's coach down at Hotrod Express MMA Training was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rodionovich's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Rodionovich using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Souppe jumps guard but Rodionovich stands there with Souppe around his waist. Souppe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Souppe ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Souppe no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rodionovich accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rodionovich wants to pass the guard but Souppe is keeping the position. Rodionovich trying to control but Souppe is working from the bottom. Souppe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodionovich gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Souppe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Rodionovich postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Rodionovich throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Souppe trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodionovich trying to control the position from guard on top but Souppe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Souppe keeping full guard, as Rodionovich tries to pass. Rodionovich keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Souppe's head. Rodionovich missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rodionovich must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Souppe is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Souppe pushes a forearm under Rodionovich's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rodionovich is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
