Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 695 p4p, 1108 weight class) and Landon McGuire (ranked 104 p4p, 172 weight class). Doe comes into the arena with Clap For The Killers blaring out of the sound system. McGuire comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Godsmack - When Legends Rise kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Landon McGuire!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Donatello Bradman and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuire lunges at Doe with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Doe's hand.

It looks like John Doe has been cut.

Doe is rocked!
Doe has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

John Doe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Doe is looking to reverse the position.
McGuire in side control, throwing shots but Doe defends.
McGuire moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The strikes coming from McGuire are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McGuire wants to lay and pray for a moment but Doe keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGuire misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Doe is trying to control McGuire's posture but McGuire avoids it.
Doe tries to buck McGuire off but McGuire is having none of it.
McGuire sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Doe is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
McGuire tries to move to full mount but Doe actually manages to regain half guard.

Doe trying to control from the bottom.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
McGuire throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Doe keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Doe wants to control but McGuire is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Doe misses with a body shot.
McGuire lands a nice leg kick that just misses Doe's sensitive parts.
McGuire steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Doe. That one must have hurt.
McGuire takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Doe jabs at McGuire's body.
Doe blocks a jab.
John Doe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Doe connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed McGuire momentarily.

Nice body punch from Doe.
A looping hook to the body misses from Doe. McGuire does a little dance to reset his feet.
Doe throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Doe throws a front kick aimed at McGuire's knee but McGuire avoids it well.
Doe throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Doe slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Doe punishes McGuire's body with a nice straight punch.
Doe with a nice calf kick.
McGuire takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Doe throws a quick inside leg kick.
McGuire doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
McGuire gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Doe with a nice calf kick.
Doe fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McGuire.
McGuire is looking to chop away at Doe's legs.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Doe throws a body punch but McGuire moves out of range.
McGuire only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Doe tries to score with a low kick but McGuire moves his leg out of the way.

Doe chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Doe connects with a crisp jab.
Doe scores with a nice right hand.
Doe throws a wild body kick that McGuire sees coming a mile off.
McGuire avoids a punch combination nicely.
McGuire defending well as Doe loads up on a big left hand.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McGuire! But no joy.
Doe explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGuire takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

McGuire throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McGuire takes one to the chin there.

Doe lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Nice shot lands for McGuire.
McGuire shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Doe as he jumps to the side.
Doe swings for the body but McGuire moves out of range.

McGuire chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Doe can pounce on him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGuire doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

McGuire misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Doe counters with a nice uppercut.
Doe catches McGuire with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

McGuire is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Doe with a body shot.
Doe throws the left hand but McGuire avoids the punch easily.
McGuire moves forwards but Doe connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Doe lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
McGuire looks to land a body kick but Doe moved away.
Decent striking displayed by Doe there.
McGuire checks the leg kick.
Doe on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
That kick from Doe tenderised McGuire's leg. McGuire is trying to keep his angry face on.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGuire throws a solid leg kick but Doe takes the impact on his shin and smiles at McGuire.
Doe works McGuire's body with a nice hook.
Doe scores with a jab. McGuire acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Doe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McGuire can do to turn this around?
Doe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Doe connects with a solid leg kick.
Doe connects with a right hand. McGuire shakes it off.
A bone on bone clash there as McGuire blocks the leg kick.
McGuire moves forwards but Doe connects with a nice, crisp jab.
McGuire misses with an uppercut. Doe saw that one coming.
McGuire has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Doe.
McGuire on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
McGuire bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McGuire loads up on a big right hand but Doe slips the punch.
McGuire slips a straight right by Doe.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

McGuire tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Doe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Doe doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Doe is looking to land body kicks.
A big right from Doe misses.

McGuire closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Doe did well to prevent McGuire getting side control.
Doe wants to get back to full guard but McGuire has mounted him!

McGuire lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
McGuire looking to control but Doe is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

McGuire throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Doe because McGuire loaded up on that one.

McGuire wants to control the pace but Doe is squirming around nicely.

Doe's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
