Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Longchain (ranked 2228 p4p, 1767 weight class) and Rodney Farva (ranked 272 p4p, 226 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. Farva goes for a double leg but Longchain avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Longchain continues to drive forward. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Longchain throws a looping overhand right but Farva ducks down to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Longchain wants to control from the top but Farva keeps moving. Farva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Farva working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Longchain. Longchain throws a strike but Farva rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Longchain pushes a forearm under Farva's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Farva is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jim Longchain!
