Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Shakir Khan!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice shot lands for Khan.
An inside leg kick lands from Khan.
Khan throws out a loose jab but Azevedo Souza uses good head movement to avoid it.
Azevedo Souza swings widly with a right hand
and Khan counters with a slapping leg kick.
Khan bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Azevedo Souza avoids the head kick by Khan.
Azevedo Souza throws a lazy right hand but Khan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Khan jabs Azevedo Souza to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Khan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Azevedo Souza stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Khan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Azevedo Souza.
Azevedo Souza lands with a cross.
Azevedo Souza avoids the head kick by Khan.
Azevedo Souza changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Khan throws a nice inside leg kick.
Khan lands an overhand right.
Azevedo Souza shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Khan sprawls well. Khan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Azevedo Souza gets slowly back to his feet.
Khan swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Azevedo Souza stuns Khan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Khan turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Khan throws a body shot but no joy.
Khan goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Azevedo Souza darts in looking for a takedown but Khan gets double underhooks and turns Azevedo Souza into the cage.
I was talking to Azevedo Souza's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Khan's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Azevedo Souza goes for a takedown in the clinch but Khan prevents it.

We've been informed that Khan has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Khan lands a high kick to the side of Azevedo Souza's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Khan dives into guard, looking to finish.
Azevedo Souza is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Azevedo Souza is on top in guard.
Oh Azevedo Souza is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Azevedo Souza tries to free his leg and advance position but Khan is retaining full guard.
Azevedo Souza seems to have got his legs back now.
Azevedo Souza postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Khan is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Azevedo Souza, into his guard.
Azevedo Souza has his foot on Khan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Khan works his way back into a safe position though.

Khan connects with a couple of short punches.
Azevedo Souza is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Azevedo Souza is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Khan misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Azevedo Souza passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Khan!
Azevedo Souza swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
