Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Noel Diaz (ranked 23 p4p, 2012 weight class) and Hells No (ranked 3 p4p, 259 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by The Stockton Slap Song. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Noel Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Hells No!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

No closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Diaz lands a body shot in the clinch.
Diaz taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
No doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
No tries to pull guard but Diaz forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Diaz prevents a body shot from No.
No can't find room to land a body shot as Diaz controls the action.
Diaz works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Donk. Diaz catches No right on the button with a cross.
No takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
No ducks right into an uppercut from Diaz.
No is looking to chop away at Diaz's legs.
No misses with a hook
enabling Diaz to counter with a crisp jab.
No throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Diaz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diaz gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Diaz lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of No backwards.
Diaz blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Diaz throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
No misses with a punch to the body.
No fails to pull guard.

No ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. No no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
No is trying to control the position but Diaz postures up.
Diaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

No looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. No swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Diaz has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
No trying to keep a closed guard but Diaz is proving a slippery customer.

No is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Diaz clinches up against the cage.
No fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Noel Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hells No.

Diaz manages to break the clinch.
Diaz works over No's head and body with a nice combination.
Diaz fails with an attempt to clinch.
No feints the counter takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
No throws out a loose jab but Diaz uses good head movement to avoid it.
Diaz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

No closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Diaz's guard.
Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but No is one step ahead there.
Diaz is trying to control the position but No postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
No stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Diaz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
No works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Diaz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. No is working away from the top position though.
No frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
No can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Diaz is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Noel Diaz dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Diaz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
A left and a right from Diaz both land. Nice combination.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from No.
No takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Diaz scores with a punch to the head.
Diaz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
No walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
We've been informed that No has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
No throws a low kick but it's checked well by Diaz.

Oooooh!!! Diaz has knocked No down with a huge combo! Diaz steps away and waves a wobbly No back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

No is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Diaz fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked No out cold! Brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Noel Diaz!
Noel Diaz was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
