The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scobie throws a hook but Thompson avoids it easily.
Thompson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Scobie.
Scobie connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

It looks like Ricky Thompson has been cut.
Scobie has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Island Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Thompson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Thompson tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Thompson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Scobie was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Thompson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Scobie's guard.
Thompson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Scobie is looking to stand up but Thompson isn't so interested in that idea.
Thompson tries to free his leg and advance position but Scobie is retaining full guard.
