PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Theon Ryan (ranked 3034 p4p, 3038 weight class) and Henry Ford (ranked 411 p4p, 412 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Theon Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Henry Ford!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Dean Styles and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan digs a good body shot into Ford's ribs.
Ford throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Ryan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ryan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ford throws a looping overhand right but Ryan ducks down to avoid it.

Ford changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ryan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Ryan prevents Ford from moving into mount.

Ford decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ryan to his feet.
Ryan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Ford throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ryan was covering up waiting for the punch and Ford finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ford is standing up over Ryan. Ryan looks to escape but Ford dives into side control.

Ryan is pushing Ford's head away, looking to escape. Ford manages to hold on to the position though.
Ryan is trying to control Ford's posture but Ford avoids it.
Ryan is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ford asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Ford thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ryan prevents Ford from improving position.

Ryan is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ford has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Ford is staying tight to Ryan's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Ford has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ryan!

Ford stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Ryan looks to score with a jab to the body but Ford is just out of range.
Ford swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Ryan misses with an attempted mid kick.
Ford lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Ryan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ford cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ford lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ford is defended easily by Ryan.
Ryan half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Ford stuffs the takedown attempt from Ryan. Ryan gets slowly back to his feet.
Ryan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ford swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Ford lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ford has taken the fight to the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Ryan's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Ford dives in and grabs Ryan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ryan pushes down on Ford's head and hops out.

Ford fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ryan avoids it really well and circles away.

Ford has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Ryan moves out of range as Ford strikes.

Ford closes the distance and clinches.

As Ryan backs off Ford throws a huge counter combo but Ryan manages to avoid it all.

Ford shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ryan sprawls well. Ryan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ford gets slowly back to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ford throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ryan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ford is in Ryan's guard.
