Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Maine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maia might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I Get Knocked Down. The crowd seem to be enjoying Maine's choice of entrance music: 99 Problems. Carlos Maine is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia avoids the head kick by Maine.
Maine takes a swing at Maia's ribcage but misses.
Maine throws a series of strikes that have Maia backpedaling.
Maia shoots in for a takedown but Maine shows good takedown defense.
Maia swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Maia misses the shot to the body.
Maine ducks right into an uppercut from Maia.
Maia looks to land a right hand but Maine moved out of range.
Maia throws a jab when Maine was well out of range.
Maine fails with the takedown
and Maia counters with a nice body shot.
Maine avoids the body shot from Maia.

Maine takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Maine misses with a takedown
and Maia counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Thiago Maia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Maine.

so Maia counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Maia advances position into side control!
Maia is looking to take a break and control but Maine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Maia grinds an elbow into Maine's temple.
Maia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maine keeps working.

Maia is trying to get an arm triangle but Maine is defending well.

Maia thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maia wants to control from the top but Maine keeps moving.
Maia won't allow Maine to sweep him here.
Maine manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maia manages to get himself to full guard.

Maine frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Maine unloads with some shots from mount but Maia bucks and avoids them well.
Maine throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Maine working for a guillotine from mount but Maia is in no mood to give up.
Maine prevents Maia from getting the reversal.
Maine swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Maia is now in Maine's guard. A big mistake from Maine there, giving up the dominant position!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maine wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thiago Maia dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Maia looks to score with a jab to the body but Maine is just out of range.
Maia jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Maia throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Maine misses with a takedown attempt
and Maia counters with a single leg into guard. Maine didn't expect that.
Maia pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Maine is keeping the position for now.
Maine has his foot on Maia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maia works his way back into a safe position though.
Maia is looking to work some ground and pound but Maine has wrist control.
Maine has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maia can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Maia works over Maine with some ground and pound from guard.

Maia is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Maine is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Maia has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Maia wants to control from the top but Maine keeps moving.
Maine looking for a sweep. Not yet Maine, not yet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Maia misses with an uppercut.
Maia misses with a straight left.
Maine swinging wilding here.
Maine shoots and misses
and Maia counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Maine tries to move into range but Maia moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Maine on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Maine feints and as Maia raises his hands in defense, Maine changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maine trying to control the position from guard on top but Maia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Maine content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Maia has locked up a guillotine! Maia's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Maine is holding on here and Maia must be using up a lot of energy. Maine has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Maia gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
