Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 5887 p4p, 4050 weight class) and Adam Pereira (ranked 550 p4p, 464 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Doe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Adam Pereira! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doe drives through and clinches with Pereira against the cage.
Doe lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Pereira wants to take the fight to the mat but Doe manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Doe is defending well against a takedown attempt. Pereira is trying to drag Doe to the mat but Doe just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Pereira. Doe gets control of Pereira's arms and successfully pulls guard. Doe will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Doe trying to control the position here. Pereira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doe swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pereira avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Doe looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pereira drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pereira jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Pereira is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Doe is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Doe has escaped and now he's on top! Doe tries to free his leg and advance position but Pereira is retaining full guard. Pereira looking to control.
Pereira looking to hit a scissor sweep but Doe is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Doe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Doe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pereira has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Doe has managed to get both his arms back between Pereira's legs - danger averted. Doe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Pereira sneaks back into half guard. Pereira is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Doe's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Doe's back! Pereira sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Doe taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Adam Pereira!
