Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lenny Kowalski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ko Van Den Born! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yuuki Gou and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Den Born uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kowalski.
Van Den Born swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Kowalski throws a sloppy head kick and Van Den Born moves out of range easily. Van Den Born fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. We've been informed that Van Den Born has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Kowalski connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Kowalski shoots in looking for a takedown but Van Den Born manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kowalski's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kowalski moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Kowalski tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Van Den Born was well out of range. Poor timing from Kowalski. Kowalski throws a lazy uppercut
and Van Den Born counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Van Den Born tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. A jab from Kowalski misses. Van Den Born is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Kowalski throws a lazy body kick and Van Den Born counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Lenny Kowalski has been cut. BOOM! Van Den Born lands a beautiful left hook that drops Kowalski. Kowalski tries to recover but Van Den Born is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Kowalski lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ko Van Den Born! Ko Van Den Born bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
