PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mack Jackson (ranked 3770 p4p, 5143 weight class) and Jovi Dufren (ranked 449 p4p, 508 weight class). Jovi Dufren told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jovi Dufren!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson has a takedown stuffed.

Jackson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dufren was covering up waiting for the punch and Jackson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Dufren working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Dufren gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Jackson is looking for a sweep. Dufren is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dufren had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jackson defends it easily.

Jackson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Dufren doesn't defend quickly enough and Jackson has managed to lock this one up! Can Dufren escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Jackson on a fantastic submission victory.
