The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ronaldo closes the distance and pushes Johnson back into the cage.
I was talking to Johnson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Johnson goes for a takedown attempt but Ronaldo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Johnson fails to land the takedown.
A little jabbing left from Ronaldo on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ronaldo lands a nice hook to Johnson's body. Johnson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

and Ronaldo counters with a nice uppercut.

Ronaldo tries to keep at a distance but Johnson has taken the fight into the clinch.

Johnson goes for a takedown attempt but Ronaldo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ronaldo still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ronaldo has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

A lull in the action here as Ronaldo stalls from top position.
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ronaldo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ronaldo prevents Johnson from escaping the position.
Johnson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ronaldo off and has taken his back!

Johnson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Ronaldo has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
