PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danilo Hooper (ranked 2989 p4p, 2990 weight class) and Ralo Gracie (ranked 401 p4p, 402 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ralo Gracie was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danilo Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ralo Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hooper rushes Gracie and presses him up against the cage.
Hooper lands a left hand that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.
Hooper controlling the action here for a moment.
Hooper working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Hooper's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Gracie has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hooper is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hooper pulls guard.
Hooper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracie is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hooper controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.
Gracie advances position into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hooper tries to improve position but can't.
Hooper prevents Gracie from improving position.
Hooper isn't going anywhere.
Hooper parries the strikes from Gracie easily there. Gracie is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hooper to escape.
Hooper is trying to escape the position but Gracie is controlling the position.
Hooper is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gracie off and has taken his back!
A lull in the action here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hooper's guard. Nice work there by Gracie.
Hooper wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.
Hooper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Hooper preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hooper not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gracie preventing the sweep.

Hooper has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gracie off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've been told by Hooper's head coaches at Hardcore Island MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Gracie tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hooper defends well and Gracie ends up having to push Hooper into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gracie on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nice combo by Hooper! Oh, that's hurt him - Gracie falls to the canvas and Hooper follows him into side control.

Gracie is rocked!

It looks like Ralo Gracie has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hooper is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Gracie is still in real trouble! Can Hooper finish him?
Hooper in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Gracie looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Hooper turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Danilo Hooper!
Our winner, Danilo Hooper, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
