Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zach Leduc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terppi Maekinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leduc's entrance music is The Spirit Never Dies. A fine choice. Zach Leduc has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zach Leduc! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terppi Maekinen! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leduc fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Maekinen thows a left - swing and a miss! Maekinen closes the distance and clinches. Maekinen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice sprawl there from Maekinen as Leduc shoots in. Leduc keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Leduc drives through with a takedown into guard. Leduc stands and throws Maekinen's legs to the side, diving into side control. Leduc is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Maekinen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Leduc is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Maekinen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Maekinen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Leduc is controlling him well. Leduc tries to move to mount but Maekinen blocks the move with his legs.

Leduc is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Maekinen can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

You can see the frustration on Maekinen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Leduc wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maekinen, who protects the arm well. Leduc tries to move to mount but Maekinen blocks the move with his legs.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Maekinen can do anything to dispel that myth. Leduc tries to advance to mount but Maekinen denies him. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Leduc closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Maekinen trying to control but Leduc postures up.

Leduc scores with a hook to the body. Maekinen takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Leduc looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Maekinen loads up on a big right hand but Leduc slips the punch. Leduc lands with a slapping head kick. Leduc ducks under a wild hook from Maekinen. Leduc slips a jab and a cross from Maekinen.
Leduc blocks a jab. Maekinen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Maekinen connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Leduc momentarily.
Leduc closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Leduc uses his free foot to push down on Maekinen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maekinen. Maekinen is breathing heavily. Maekinen is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Leduc with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
