Irwin's entrance music is Don't Take Your Guns To Town - Johnny Cash . A fine choice. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Frank Diaz enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Irwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Diaz!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irwin throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Irwin takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Irwin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Irwin loads up on a big right hand but Diaz slips the punch.
And Diaz tries to counter it with a takedown but Irwin pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Diaz takes a swing at Irwin's ribcage but misses.
Diaz takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Irwin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Irwin tries to move into range but Diaz moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Irwin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Diaz.
Irwin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Diaz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Diaz misses the body punch
and Diaz takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Diaz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Irwin.
And Diaz tries to counter it with a takedown but Irwin pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Diaz thuds his right hand into Irwin's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Diaz ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Irwin connects with an inside leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Irwin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Diaz.

Diaz looks to score with a jab to the body but Irwin is just out of range.
Diaz's coach down at The Rubber Guard Emporium was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Diaz's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Diaz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Irwin.

That kick from Irwin tenderised Diaz's leg. Diaz is trying to keep his angry face on.

Diaz looking to sit in guard and control but Irwin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Irwin is fighting to break Diaz's control of his arms but Diaz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Diaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Irwin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Diaz isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Irwin stacks Diaz on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Irwin!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Irwin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Irwin throws a good cross that connects.
Irwin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but Irwin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Irwin controls Diaz momentarily but Diaz frees himself.
Frank Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far.
Irwin wants to sweep here but Diaz controlling him for the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Irwin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Irwin has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Diaz to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Irwin is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Diaz pulls down on the head and he's put Irwin to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Frank Diaz!
After winning the bout, Frank Diaz thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
