Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dar Jee (ranked 2776 p4p, 2875 weight class) and Hiroshi Papo (ranked 178 p4p, 184 weight class). Jee comes to the cage accompanied by Everybody Knows My Name. The key to victory for Dar Jee has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dar Jee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroshi Papo! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jee misses with a double jab
and Papo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jee won't be happy with that. Jee bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Papo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jee to the ground. Papo is now in Jee's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Papo won't allow Jee to get back to his feet. Jee is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Papo is aware though and is defending well. Jee is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Papo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Jee wants to get back to his feet but Papo is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Papo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jee's guard. Papo works his way into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jee wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Papo scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jee to see if he's OK. Papo wants to control but Jee is keeping him busy. Papo controls the position from side control. Jee sneaks out the side door and pushes Papo away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Jee misses with a jab, cross combination.
Papo shoots for a takedown but Jee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Papo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jee is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Papo is controlling him well.

My spies in Advanced Fitness Inc. inform me that Papo has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Jee pushes Papo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Papo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Papo controlling the position. Jee bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! That's three minutes gone in the round. Jee gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Papo to score an easy takedown into full guard. Papo is stalling in the full guard. Papo won't allow Jee to get back to his feet. Papo working some strikes from top position. Papo trying to control but Jee is working from the bottom. Papo content to stall in guard here. Papo postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Jee is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Jee is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at The Jungle Room that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Papo trying to control the action but Jee is working from the bottom. Jee wants to get back to his feet but Papo is dominant here and he's now got Jee's back! Papo controlling from the back. A close round but Hiroshi Papo will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Papo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. No luck for Papo with that takedown attempt. A punch combination from Jee misses. Papo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jee to the ground. Papo is now in Jee's guard. Jee wants to stand and escape but Papo is having none of it. Jee keeping moving, preventing Papo from controlling successfully. Papo is pushing down on Jee's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jee is fighting to maintain full guard but Papo has managed to sneak the leg through. Jee flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Jee is refusing to be controlled, as Papo sits in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jee tries to get to full guard but Papo has control of the leg. Jee tries to kick Papo off but Papo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Jee pushes Papo off but Papo dives into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jee explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Papo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jee swivels and escapes. Jee throws a series of punches but Papo moves out of range. Papo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jee avoids it really well and circles away. Dar Jee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hiroshi Papo. Jee misses with a jab, cross combination.
Papo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Papo goes for a double leg but Jee avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jee continues to drive forward. Papo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jee as he avoids it easily. Papo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jee was covering up waiting for the punch and Papo finishes the takedown easily into guard. Papo is breathing heavily. Papo won't allow Jee to get back to his feet. Jee is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Papo prevents Jee from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jee thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Jee wants to stand and escape but Papo is having none of it. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Jee moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Papo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jee pinned against the cage. Jee gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jee swinging wildly here.
Dar Jee is winning the standup battle so far. Papo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Papo tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jee's legs. Jee on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Jee tries to improve position but can't. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Papo is continuing to stall. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jee pushes Papo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Papo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Jee holds on to Papo's head and controls the position momentarily. Papo taking a breather here. Jee is trying to buck Papo off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Papo slows the pace down.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jee clinches. Papo goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jee prevents it.

Dar Jee dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round! Jee lands with a kick to the ribs.
Papo takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Jee throws a series of punches but Papo avoids them all with ease. Jee throws a right and a left that both miss. Jee will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jee stalks Papo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Papo's face. Papo staggers backwards, shaken. Some wild striking there from Jee.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Jee tries to land a body kick and Papo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jee won't be happy with that. Jee is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Papo takes a little break here. Jee wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Papo prevents Jee from escaping the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Dar Jee showed his dominance in that final round. I think Jee has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
