The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shutes moves into range and clinches up with Spite.
Spite scores with a hook to the body.
Spite tries to pull guard but Shutes forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Spite tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Shutes just stands there and leans against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Shutes is working Spite over against the cage.
Shutes looking for a takedown.
Spite jumps guard but Shutes stands there with Spite around his waist. Spite gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nicky Spite. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shutes is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Spite is defending well for now.

Spite is trying to pull guard but Shutes turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Spite jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shutes walks away with a smile on his face. Spite gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Spite.

Shutes moves into the clinch.
Shutes using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Spite has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Spite manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Shutes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spite works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Shutes wants to control from the top but Spite keeps moving.
Shutes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Shutes stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Spite throws up his legs and catches Shutes in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Shutes tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Spite! That came out of nowhere!
