Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vicente Escalante (ranked 90 p4p, 688 weight class) and Peter Petersson (ranked 10 p4p, 94 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vicente Escalante! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Peter Petersson! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petersson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Petersson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Nice defenses there by Petersson. Petersson misses with a lunging right hand
and Escalante counters with a nice uppercut. Petersson slips under a jab. It seemed like Petersson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Petersson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Escalante. Escalante takes one on the button. Petersson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Escalante. Escalante throws a lazy right hand but Petersson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Petersson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Escalante. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Petersson! But no joy. Escalante lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Escalante slips under a jab from Petersson. Petersson throws a jab but it's blocked by Escalante. Escalante takes one on the button. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Decent striking displayed by Escalante there. Petersson thows a left - swing and a miss! Petersson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Petersson misses with a looping right. Escalante feinted there with a counter leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Escalante throws a jab when Petersson was well out of range. Petersson misses with a right hand and Escalante counters with a flying knee. Nice. Petersson scores with a jab to the head.
Petersson throws an overhand right that lands on Escalante's shoulder, as Escalante tries to avoid the shot. Escalante misses with a body shot.
Escalante swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Petersson.
Petersson is rocked! Escalante takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Petersson misses with a looping left. Escalante loads up on a big right hand but Petersson slips the punch. Petersson throws a lazy uppercut
and Escalante counters with a crisp right that sends Petersson to the canvas! Escalante follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vicente Escalante! Vicente Escalante retains his middleweight title! Vicente Escalante really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Brooklyn Apothecary logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
