PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Claus Haba (ranked 2189 p4p, 2182 weight class) and Brooke Marsden (ranked 140 p4p, 139 weight class). Marsden has chosen Lunatic Fringe as his entrance music. Brooke Marsden will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Claus Haba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brooke Marsden!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haba takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Marsden thumps Haba with a low kick.
Marsden swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Haba changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Marsden scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Haba doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Marsden cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice jab there from Marsden.
Nice defenses there by Haba.
Haba drops down looking for a counter takedown but Marsden sprawls and moves away.
Marsden has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Haba shoots in for a takedown but Marsden shows good takedown defense.
Marsden scores with a three punch combo!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Haba blocks a head kick by Marsden.
Haba changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

and Marsden counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Marsden bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Haba's head.

Haba closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Marsden did well to prevent Haba getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Haba controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Marsden is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Haba is controlling him.
Marsden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Haba wants to control from the top but Marsden keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Haba drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Marsden tries to roll over but Haba keeps him under control.

Marsden is refusing to be controlled, as Haba sits in half guard.

Haba might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marsden seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Marsden wants to sweep here but Haba controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Haba shoots in and drives through. Marsden sprawls well.
Haba darts in looking for a takedown but Marsden gets double underhooks and turns Haba into the cage.
Marsden lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Haba or not.
Marsden gets underhooks to prevent Haba's takedown attempt.
Marsden scores with a shoulder strike.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Brooke Marsden dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Marsden lands with a nice body kick.
Marsden connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Haba momentarily.

It looks like Claus Haba has been cut.
Haba shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Marsden counters with a nice body shot.
Marsden has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Marsden stuffs the takedown attempt from Haba. Haba gets slowly back to his feet.
Haba takes a kick to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marsden stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Marsden lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Haba shoots for a double leg takedown but Marsden sprawls well. He's pushed Haba's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Claus Haba. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Haba dives in for a single leg takedown but Marsden sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Marsden manages to break the clinch.
Claus Haba is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Marsden lands a head kick!
Haba fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Marsden lands an overhand right.
Marsden shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Haba eats them both and turns towards Marsden to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Haba is rocked!
Haba takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Oh Haba is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Haba shoots and misses
and Marsden counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Brooke Marsden!
Brooke Marsden tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
