Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Reynard Frederick (ranked 1878 p4p, 236 weight class) and Remi Chavaski (ranked 195 p4p, 31 weight class). Remi Chavaski is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Reynard Frederick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Remi Chavaski! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot by Frederick. Chavaski staying out of range there. Frederick misses with a hook. Chavaski throws a body punch but Frederick moves out of range. Frederick swings away with a body shot that misses
and Chavaski counters with a shoot takedown. Frederick fights it but they end up in guard. We've been hearing good reports from Frederick's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Frederick pulls Chavaski in to control the position. Frederick lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Chavaski keeping moving, preventing Frederick from controlling successfully. Chavaski had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Frederick defends it easily. Frederick stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chavaski swivels though and keeps the full guard. Chavaski has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Island Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Frederick trying to control but Chavaski is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frederick engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Frederick pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chavaski is keeping the position for now. Chavaski is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Chavaski has his feet on Frederick's thighs here. He's pushed Frederick off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Frederick screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Remi Chavaski! After the fight, Remi Chavaski was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
