Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Holden McLoughlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Duggan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McLoughlin comes to the cage accompanied by Home For A Rest by Spirit Of The West. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Holden McLoughlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Duggan!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duggan closes the distance and clinches up with McLoughlin, looking for a takedown. Duggan pushes McLoughlin against the cage but McLoughlin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McLoughlin avoids the head kick by Duggan.
Duggan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McLoughlin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McLoughlin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Duggan throws a series of punches but McLoughlin moves out of range.
Duggan throws a head kick but McLoughlin moves out of range.
McLoughlin stuffs the takedown.
Holden McLoughlin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Duggan.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McLoughlin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
McLoughlin controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
McLoughlin wants to control from the top but Duggan keeps moving.
McLoughlin is looking to work some ground and pound but Duggan has wrist control.

McLoughlin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duggan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McLoughlin stays in close to Duggan's body and controls the position.

McLoughlin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
McLoughlin lands a couple of elbows.
McLoughlin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
McLoughlin tries to free his leg and advance position but Duggan is retaining full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Duggan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McLoughlin trying to control but Duggan is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Duggan wants to clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Duggan shoots and misses
and Duggan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Holden McLoughlin dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Duggan lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Duggan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Duggan throws a left and a right that both miss

and McLoughlin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Duggan wants to get back to his feet but McLoughlin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
McLoughlin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Duggan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McLoughlin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McLoughlin wants to control from the top but Duggan keeps moving.
Duggan is breathing heavily.

McLoughlin landing some decent shots from guard.

McLoughlin drops back looking for a leg! Duggan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Duggan manages to kick McLoughlin off! McLoughlin jumps back into Duggan's guard.
McLoughlin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McLoughlin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Duggan is trying to control the position but McLoughlin postures up.
McLoughlin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Duggan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Duggan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McLoughlin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from McLoughlin, right into the meat.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Duggan misses with a takedown
and McLoughlin counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Duggan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McLoughlin makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
McLoughlin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
McLoughlin throws a good cross that connects.
McLoughlin throws a lazy head kick
and Duggan counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Duggan takes one to the chin there.

McLoughlin scores with a shot to the body.
McLoughlin jabs at Duggan's body.

McLoughlin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
McLoughlin prevents Duggan from improving his position.
McLoughlin lands strikes from half guard.
McLoughlin winds up and cracks Duggan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duggan is staying active underneath McLoughlin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



McLoughlin moves into range and clinches up with Duggan.
McLoughlin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Duggan looking to slow down the pace here.
McLoughlin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Duggan has him pressed against the cage.
Knees in the clinch landing for Duggan.

McLoughlin manages to break the clinch.

and McLoughlin counters with a nice uppercut.
McLoughlin looks to land a combination but Duggan avoids it well.
McLoughlin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Duggan throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McLoughlin counters with an outside leg kick.
Duggan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

McLoughlin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
McLoughlin works to advance to full mount. Duggan defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

McLoughlin in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
McLoughlin wants to control the action but instead Duggan gets a body lock and reverses into McLoughlin's guard! Nice work!
McLoughlin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Duggan is fighting to break McLoughlin's control of his arms but McLoughlin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
McLoughlin looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Duggan puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Duggan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Duggan is in a horrible position here. McLoughlin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Holden McLoughlin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McLoughlin drops a big elbow. That's hurt Duggan! More shots from McLoughlin and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
