Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Wayne Gracie (ranked 1704 p4p, 2619 weight class) and Pugilistic Dementia (ranked 223 p4p, 325 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gracie might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Thriller by Michael Jackson. Dementia has chosen Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benatar as his entrance music. John Wayne Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 37 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Wayne Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 30 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pugilistic Dementia! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big left from Dementia misses. Gracie changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Gracie lunges at Dementia with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Dementia's hand. Gracie gets the takedown into side control. Dementia is not content to let Gracie control the position. You can see the frustration on Dementia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dementia manages to get back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dementia is controlling Gracie's position as best he can from this difficult position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dementia looking for submissions off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dementia wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dementia keeps working. Dementia is trying to control but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Gracie thows a leg kick but Dementia checks it and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Nice uppercut lands for Gracie. That snapped Dementia's head back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dementia on the side of the head. Pugilistic Dementia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Dementia lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Dementia takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Gracie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gracie lands in his opponent's guard. Gracie controlling from the top position. Dementia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie lands a couple of elbows. Gracie showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've been hearing good reports from Gracie's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Gracie scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Gracie chips away with some ground and pound. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Dementia looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracie is one step ahead there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Dementia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dementia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Dementia is looking for a triangle here but Gracie uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dementia keeps working. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
John Wayne Gracie dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Dementia on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
It looks like Pugilistic Dementia has been cut. Dementia tried to score with a low kick but Gracie checks it. Dementia misses with a leg kick and Gracie counters with a nice leg kick. Dementia pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Dementia on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gracie. Gracie obviously looking to wear him down.
A left lands for Gracie. Dementia lands a nice hook to Gracie's body. Gracie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Dementia defending well as Gracie loads up on a big left hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dementia takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Dementia moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Dementia is rocked! Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Gracie! Dementia is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Wayne Gracie! After winning the bout, John Wayne Gracie thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
