Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Briere (ranked 5571 p4p, 4485 weight class) and Ira Novikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Briere! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ira Novikov! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Briere gets caught flat footed, as Novikov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Novikov is working Briere over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Briere knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Novikov on the ground. Novikov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Novikov passes easily into side control. Nice work. Novikov decides to stand back up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Novikov takes a shot right to the bread basket. Briere looks to score with a jab to the body but Novikov is just out of range. Novikov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Briere is looking to stand back up but Novikov counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Briere.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Novikov passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Briere!
That's one minute gone in the round. Novikov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Novikov connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Novikov sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Let's hope that Novikov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Novikov is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Briere is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Briere flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Novikov anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Briere and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Novikov slips an arm under Briere chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Novikov has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Novikov is squeezing on Briere like an anaconda would it's prey. Briere fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ira Novikov!
