Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Apostolos Angelopoulos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Victor Rose!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Steve Montenegro and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angelopoulos stuffs the takedown.
Rose throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Angelopoulos defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rose.
Rose shoots in looking for a takedown but Angelopoulos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rose's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Apostolos Angelopoulos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Victor Rose.

Apostolos Angelopoulos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rose takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Angelopoulos lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Angelopoulos.

Rose shoots in but Angelopoulos avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Rose shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Angelopoulos as he avoids it easily.
Angelopoulos throws a head kick that half lands.
We've been told by Angelopoulos's head coaches at Catch Wrestling L.A. that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Rose shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Angelopoulos's guard.
Angelopoulos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Angelopoulos is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rose is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Angelopoulos utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Rose got a little sloppy there for a moment and Angelopoulos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rose has managed to get both his arms back between Angelopoulos's legs - danger averted.
Rose lands a couple of elbows.
Angelopoulos utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Rose got a little sloppy there for a moment and Angelopoulos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rose has managed to get both his arms back between Angelopoulos's legs - danger averted.

Rose drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rose jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rose has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rose is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rose throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Angelopoulos works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Rose in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rose lands a couple of digs.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rose accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Angelopoulos avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rose postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Rose throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Angelopoulos is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rose is aware though and is defending well.

Angelopoulos is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Angelopoulos is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rose rolls with it to try and escape but Angelopoulos cranks on the arm and Rose is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
