PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Maeda (ranked 360 p4p, 253 weight class) and James Cole (ranked 48 p4p, 35 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maeda might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Submission. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thomas Maeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 2, fighting out of New York, James Cole!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole lands a slapping body shot.
Cole scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
A big left from Cole misses.
Maeda has his takedown stuffed
and Cole counters with a straight right hand.
Maeda throws a right and a left that Cole avoids nicely.
Cole scores with a hook to the body. Maeda takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
A swing and a miss from Cole.
Maeda throwing a counter right hand but Cole manages to avoid it.
Cole misses with a double jab.
Cole moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Maeda throws a big shot that misses.
Maeda gets cracked there but stands up to it.
James Cole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maeda tries to bum rush Cole with a series of wild strikes but Cole uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cole connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Maeda is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good leg kick by Cole.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Cole! Maeda is out on his feet! Cole rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Maeda is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Maeda is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Cole!
A very excited looking James Cole rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
Thomas Maeda was interviewed post fight and said 'Through Japanese translator to English. "My opponent was better today. I will not underestimate him next time"'.
