Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew Barnes (ranked 3433 p4p, 2980 weight class) and Joshua Cooper (ranked 407 p4p, 352 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drew Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joshua Cooper! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cooper misses with a straight right. Barnes appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Barnes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cooper. Cooper swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Barnes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Cooper pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Cooper misses with a hook. Barnes ducked under it nicely. Barnes looks to score with a jab to the body but Cooper is just out of range. Cooper looks to land a left hand but Barnes moved out of range nicely. Cooper throws a body punch but Barnes moves out of range. A head kick by Cooper misses and Barnes counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Barnes looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Cooper wants to improve his position but Barnes is controlling well.
Cooper felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Barnes not landing any meaningful shots this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnes is thwarting Cooper's attempts to control the position. Barnes is trying to control the action in half guard but Cooper is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Cooper is looking to control Barnes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cooper avoid being mounted? Barnes trying to mount his opponent but Cooper defends it. Barnes wants to take a breather but Cooper is having none of it. Cooper is trying to stand.
Barnes scoring with strikes to the body and head. Barnes scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Barnes looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cooper with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Barnes stops Cooper from getting back to his feet.
Barnes wants to free his trapped foot but Cooper is holding on for dear life with his legs. Nice strikes from Barnes there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooper is trying to maintain the position but Barnes is very close to passing his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barnes scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Barnes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Barnes is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Barnes lands strikes from half guard.
Cooper is rocked! Barnes trying to control from half guard but Cooper is working away. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Nice strikes from Barnes there. Cooper is still in real trouble! Can Barnes finish him? Barnes lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Cooper! More strikes land and this one is all over! Barnes jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
