Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Loquacious Smiff (ranked 4481 p4p, 3128 weight class) and Ben Preach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preach throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smiff's waist but Smiff gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Preach off to one side.
Preach shoots for a double leg takedown but Smiff sprawls well. He's pushed Preach's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Preach moves into range and clinches up with Smiff.
Preach lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Smiff.

Preach's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Preach gets caught napping as Smiff dives in and scores a takedown. Preach manages to retain guard.
Preach is looking to stand back up but Smiff counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Preach.

Preach is looking to escape.
Preach is looking to control Smiff's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Preach avoid being mounted?
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smiff connects with a nice short shot to Preach's temple.

Smiff is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Preach has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smiff is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Smiff uses his free foot to push down on Preach's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Preach.
Smiff with a couple of short strikes.
Preach working to try and regain half guard.

Smiff working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Preach keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Preach is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Smiff is landing with some decent strikes but Preach is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Preach really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smiff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smiff lands a couple of good shots and Preach has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smiff has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Smiff lands with a hammerfist to the side of Preach's head.
Preach trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smiff struggling to keep hold of the position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Smiff lands punches and elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smiff is punishing Preach with some ground and pound.
A lull in the action here.
Preach trying to control the hands but Smiff won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Preach tries to escape but he's let his defenses down in doing so and Smiff has slipped in the rear naked choke! Oh, that's tiiiiiiiiight! Preach is tapping! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
