PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hatake Kakashi (ranked 2100 p4p, 3492 weight class) and Sam Salter (ranked 211 p4p, 328 weight class). Salter has chosen Dead Or Alive as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hatake Kakashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Salter!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kakashi digs a good body shot into Salter's ribs.

Salter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kakashi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Salter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kakashi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Salter trying to control the position from guard on top but Kakashi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kakashi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Salter is one step ahead there.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Salter felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kakashi is trying to work for a kimura but Salter is defending well.
Kakashi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kakashi is controlling the pace.
Kakashi is trying to control the action in half guard but Salter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kakashi passes into side control, despite Salter's attempt to control the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hatake Kakashi will probably get the nod.

Kakashi fakes the leg kick and cracks Salter in the body.

Sam Salter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kakashi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Salter to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Salter shrugs it off.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hatake Kakashi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kakashi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Hatake Kakashi was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
The defeated Sam Salter had this to say: 'Losing my last 7 of 10 I think it may be time to hang up the gloves. Its been fun at times but Im over this time to go kill myself and family chris benoit style.'.
