PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ed Green (ranked 395 p4p, 1517 weight class) and Richard Ramirez (ranked 53 p4p, 205 weight class). Ramirez has chosen Get Lucky as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ed Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramirez thows a left - swing and a miss!
Green changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ramirez tries to avoid it but Green manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ramirez to the ground. Ramirez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Green looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Green throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ramirez's waist but Ramirez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Green off to one side.
Green shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ramirez but Ramirez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Green. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Green changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ramirez tries to avoid it but Green manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ramirez to the ground. Ramirez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Green gets the takedown into side control.
Ramirez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Green asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Green tries to advance to mount but Ramirez denies him.

Green working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ramirez is pushing Green's head away, looking to escape. Green manages to hold on to the position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ramirez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Green asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Green works to advance to full mount. Ramirez defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Ramirez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Green.
Ramirez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Ramirez is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Green looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ramirez wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Green swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Ramirez is now in Green's guard. A big mistake from Green there, giving up the dominant position!
Green trying to keep a closed guard but Ramirez is proving a slippery customer.
Ramirez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramirez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Green swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Green manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ramirez manages to get himself to full guard.

Green pushes down on Ramirez's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ramirez looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Green is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ramirez sees it coming and defends easily.
Ramirez pushes Green off looking to stand but Green dives back in and keeps control.
Green wants to free his trapped foot but Ramirez is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ramirez is trying to escape back to his feet but Green uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Ramirez stops Green from passing to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ramirez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Ramirez is wriggling around trying to escape but Green has hooked up a rear naked choke! Is it over??? Is it... you're damn right it is! Ramirez taps out and Green picks up the big win! Great work there by Green!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ed Green!
