PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dee DeVon (ranked 3255 p4p, 1479 weight class) and Kurt Cobain (ranked 398 p4p, 201 weight class). Cobain has chosen Smells Like Teen Spirit as his entrance music. Kurt Cobain will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeVon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cobain circles away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Dee DeVon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

DeVon tries to score with some ground and pound. Cobain controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

DeVon throws a strike aimed at the side of Cobain's head but Cobain avoids it well.

DeVon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

DeVon misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Cobain parries the strikes from DeVon easily there. DeVon is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cobain to escape.

DeVon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cobain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now DeVon is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as DeVon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cobain is controlling DeVon's posture.

DeVon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cobain avoids it really well and circles away.

DeVon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cobain has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of DeVon is proving hard to escape from.
DeVon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cobain manages to get himself to full guard.

DeVon drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cobain gets the underhooks and prevents it.

DeVon gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Oh DeVon is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cobain scores with a jab to the body.
Cobain chopping away at his opponent's legs.
DeVon walks straight into a right hand from Cobain - that's dropped him! Cobain jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save DeVon from any more punishment! DeVon complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
