PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Brockington (ranked 1434 p4p, 3266 weight class) and Kyle Seehaver (ranked 199 p4p, 401 weight class). The key to victory for Kevin Brockington has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Brockington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 19 - 1, fighting out of London, Kyle Seehaver!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brockington shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Seehaver defends it nicely.
Seehaver with the counter takedown but Brockington avoids it easily.
Seehaver looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Seehaver shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Seehaver was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Brockington has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Seehaver gets to mount! Brockington was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Kyle Seehaver showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Brockington fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Seehaver avoids it really well and circles away.

The referee asks Seehaver politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Seehaver prefers to stall for the moment though.
Brockington tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Seehaver wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Seehaver takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Brockington manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Still in half guard, Seehaver seems content to control.
Brockington moves into full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Seehaver won't allow Brockington to sweep him here.

Seehaver stays in close to Brockington's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brockington.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Brockington. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Seehaver rushes Brockington and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Seehaver's coach down at JAG Battle Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Seehaver's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Brockington escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brockington shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Seehaver pinned against the cage. Seehaver gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Seehaver closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Brockington's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kyle Seehaver comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Seehaver has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
