Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Devin Eason (ranked 4267 p4p, 4260 weight class) and Maxwell Patelle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Devin Eason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maxwell Patelle!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eason throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Eason throws the left hand but Patelle avoids the punch easily.
Patelle feints the counter takedown.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Eason enables Patelle to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Eason manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Patelle is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Patelle wants to control from the top but Eason keeps moving.
Patelle might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Eason haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Patelle passes into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Patelle thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Eason's head.
Eason is not content to let Patelle control the position.
Patelle is looking to advance position but Eason won't allow it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Eason is on top in guard.

Eason drops back looking for a leg! Patelle is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Patelle manages to kick Eason off! Eason jumps back into Patelle's guard.
Eason stands and throws Patelle's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Patelle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Eason wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Patelle takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Eason advances to full mount.

Patelle tries to hold on but Eason pushes him away.
Eason wants to control the pace but Patelle is squirming around nicely.
Patelle is in a horrible position here. Eason smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Patelle is desperately trying to improve his position but Eason has a good base and remains in mount.
Eason can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Patelle is looking to escape.
Eason moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Patelle has worked his arm free - good work by Patelle!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Devin Eason will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Patelle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Eason as he jumps to the side.
Eason drops down looking for a counter takedown but Patelle sprawls and moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Patelle.
Eason half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Patelle gets caught napping as Eason dives in and scores a takedown. Patelle manages to retain guard.
Patelle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Patelle looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Eason has picked Patelle up and slammed him! Patelle can't keep hold of the triangle and Eason manages to pass to side control!
Patelle is breathing heavily.
You can see the frustration on Patelle's face as Eason controls the position.
Eason is working Patelle over with some ground and pound from side control.
Patelle is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Eason off and has taken his back!

Eason tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Patelle fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Eason slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Eason manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Patelle manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Eason slaps away a takedown attempt from Patelle, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Patelle shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Eason's guard.
Patelle postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Patelle is looking for a kimura but Eason is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Patelle to get the leverage.
Devin Eason overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Patelle is stalling here. Eason is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Patelle seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Eason has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Eason is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Patelle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
