Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mickey Cowan! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Will Jackson! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Steve Montenegro and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cowans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Cowan lands with a right hand. Mickey Cowan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice uppercut lands for Cowan. That snapped Jackson's head back.
A jab from Jackson misses. Cowan tries to counter by clinching up but Jackson breaks away and moves out of range. Jackson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson looks to land a left hand but Cowan moved out of range nicely. Cowan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jackson's head.
Jackson is rocked!
It looks like Will Jackson has been cut. Jackson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Jackson just misses with a punch to the body.
Jackson misses with a right hand and Cowan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Jackson getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cowan stuns Jackson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Jackson throws a jab but it's blocked by Cowan. Jackson misses with a straight left. Jab, jab by Cowan - just one landing. Jackson is still on wobbly legs! Can Cowan finish him? Cowan connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Jackson! He's out on his feet! Cowan rushes in and drops Jackson with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mickey Cowan! Mickey Cowan retains his bantamweight title! Mickey Cowan seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
