Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan David Franco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Carl Johnson! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franco lands a glancing blow to the side of Johnson's head. Johnson tries for a takedown but Franco circles away easily and Franco counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Jab from Franco. Franco throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Johnson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Johnson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Juan David Franco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Franco lands with a shot to the body. Franco bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Franco lands the left hand. Franco feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Johnsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Franco goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Franco scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Franco sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Franco scores with a nice head shot. Franco lands a nice hook to Johnson's body. Johnson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franco lands a right hook to the body.
Franco moves into range and connects with a jab. Franco slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Good standup being displayed there by Franco as he connects with a hook.
Johnson is rocked! Franco scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Johnson is still on wobbly legs! Can Franco finish him? Franco cracks Johnson with a hook to the temple - Johnson is on wobbly legs here! Franco swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Johnson falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Franco wins by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Juan David Franco! In defeat, Carl Johnson stepped up to the mic, saying 'Aye man ima whip yo ass'.
