Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Mercer (ranked 2009 p4p, 2043 weight class) and Smack Dre (ranked 217 p4p, 124 weight class). Mercer comes to the cage accompanied by Why Can't We Be Friends by WAR. Bobby Mercer could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Smack Dre's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bobby Mercer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Smack Dre!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dre lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Mercer lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Dre moves in looking to clinch but Mercer pushes him off.
Mercer has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Beasties in the buildup to the fight.
Dre lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Mercer throws out a leg kick but Dre moves out of range and Mercer only half commits.
Dre tries to score with a low kick but Mercer moves his leg out of the way.
Mercer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dre.
Dre connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Mercer is trying to buck Dre off.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Dre working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Dre looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mercer is avoiding damage well.

Dre jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mercer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mercer and Dre has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Dre looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Mercer explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Bobby Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Dre counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mercer throws a sloppy head kick and Dre moves out of range easily.

Mercer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dre ducks under a wild hook from Mercer.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Smack Dre dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mercer throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Mercer keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Dre takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Mercer throws the left hand but Dre avoids the punch easily.

and Dre makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Dre with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Nice straight punches there by Dre. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Dre.

Dre feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mercer is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Dre presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Dre tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mercer just stands there and leans against the cage.
Mercer lands a hook to the side of the head.
Dre has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mercer after a bit of a struggle.
Come on Mercer - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Dre tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mercer just stands there and leans against the cage.
Bobby Mercer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Smack Dre.
Mercer is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Dre is keeping busy.

Dre gets control of Mercer's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dre will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Mercer swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Dre misses with a jab to the body
enabling Mercer to counter with a crisp jab.
Mercer connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Mercer throws out a loose jab but Dre uses good head movement to avoid it.
Dre tries to land a leg kick but Mercer saw it coming and moves away.
Mercer uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Dre has time to react.

Mercer trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dre has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Mercer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
That kick from Dre tenderised Mercer's leg. Mercer is trying to keep his angry face on.

Mercer rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Dre counters with a straight right hand.
Mercer is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Mercer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Mercer looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Dre feints a counter leg kick.
Dre lands a really nice looking cross but Mercer seems unphased.

and Dre connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mercer has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Dre.

Dre jabs Mercer to the body, keeping him at a distance.
A head kick from Mercer lands but Dre takes it in his stride.

It seemed like Dre was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Dre.
Mercer missing with a left hand there. Dre was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mercer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dre sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mercer moves forwards but Dre connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Dre looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mercer is fending him off so far but Dre persists. Nope, Mercer circles away and we're back to standing.

and Dre counters with a low kick, right behind Mercer 's knee.

And that's the end of the fight!
Smack Dre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dre has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
