Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Wilber (ranked 5438 p4p, 5825 weight class) and Douglas Sampson (ranked 555 p4p, 570 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Sam Wilber has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sam Wilber seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Wilber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Sampson!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilber misses with a lunging right hand
and Sampson counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Sam Wilber has been cut.
Wilber misses with an uppercut
and Sampson counters with a straight right hand.
Wilber dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wilber with a nice cross.
Wilber ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sampson moves away.

Sampson sends Wilber crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sampson is motioning to the referee to let Wilber up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wilber cracks Sampson with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Sampson looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Wilber finish him?
Wilber lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sampson circles away quickly and effectively.
Sampson misses with a straight left.
Wilber lands a really nice looking cross but Sampson seems unphased.
Wilber swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Sampson to counter with a crisp jab.

Sam Wilber's cut is getting worse.
Wilber misses with a combination

and Sampson counters with a crisp right hand that drops Wilber! Sampson lets Wilber back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Wilber is rocked!
Wilber throws a nice looking combination but Sampson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Sampson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Wilber sprawling to the canvas! Wilber rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Sampson finish him?!
Oh Wilber is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sampson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wilber.
Wilber seems to have got his legs back now.
Sampson moves away from the strike by Wilber.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sampson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wilber.
Wilber misses with an uppercut.
Wilber keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sampson.
Wilber throwing a counter right hand but Sampson manages to avoid it.
Sampson drops Wilber with a straight right hand, right on the button! Sampson follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Douglas Sampson!
An out of breath Douglas Sampson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
