Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Damon Petrers (ranked 3495 p4p, 2943 weight class) and Fernando Valdez (ranked 326 p4p, 281 weight class). Valdez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by HIDRA - 13 Días. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damon Petrers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernando Valdez! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdez shoots in and drives through. Petrers sprawls well. Valdez dives in and grabs Petrers's left leg, looking for a takedown. Petrers pushes down on Valdez's head and hops out. Petrers wants to clinch up but Valdez keeps it at a distance. A looping hook to the body misses from Petrers. Valdez does a little dance to reset his feet. Petrers swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Valdez. Damon Petrers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernando Valdez. Valdez gets a double leg takedown into Petrers's guard. Valdez has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Gunner's School of Combat. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Valdez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Petrers can't keep his opponent in guard - Valdez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Petrers keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Valdez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Valdez looks to land a strike but Petrers avoids it nicely and regains full guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Valdez postures up in Petrers's guard and throws a big left but Petrers blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valdez throws a big right hand that misses. Valdez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Valdez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Petrers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Petrers looking to control.
Valdez lands a couple of elbows. Petrers has momentary wrist control but Valdez slips an elbow through the middle. Petrers keeping moving, preventing Valdez from controlling successfully. Valdez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Petrers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Valdez circles away quickly and effectively. Petrers tries to bum rush Valdez with a series of wild strikes but Valdez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Petrers lands with a hook. Valdez tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. A jab lands there for Valdez. Petrers takes a swing at Valdez's ribcage but misses. Petrers throws a right and a left that both miss. Petrers looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Damon Petrers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Valdez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Petrers digs a good body shot into Valdez's ribs. Valdez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Petrers sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Valdez somewhat. Petrers stuffs the takedown. Petrers was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Valdez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Valdez darts in looking for a takedown but Petrers gets double underhooks and turns Valdez into the ropes. Petrers ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Valdez moves away. Sloppy strikes from Petrers. Those never looked like landing. Valdez moves out of range of the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Petrers manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Valdez lands a couple of decent looking shots. Petrers is trying to control the position but Valdez postures up. Petrers working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Valdez. Petrers keeping full guard, as Valdez tries to pass. Valdez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Valdez scoring with punches to the head and body. Valdez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Valdez with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valdez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Valdez throws a big elbow that misses. Valdez lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Petrers working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Valdez. Valdez works over Petrers with some ground and pound from guard. Valdez throwing strikes from guard but Petrers blocks nicely. Valdez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Petrers moves out of range of the strikes. Petrers scores with a nice head shot. Valdez tries for a takedown but Petrers sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Valdez is defended easily by Petrers. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Fernando Valdez will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Petrers lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Petrers lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Valdez goes down and covers up as Petrers starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
