PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Robo Dexterity (ranked 3295 p4p, 4543 weight class) and Max Chapman (ranked 195 p4p, 242 weight class). Chapman has chosen Invincible - Pop Smoke as his entrance music. Robo Dexterity has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robo Dexterity!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Chapman!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chapman blocks a head kick by Dexterity.
Chapman tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dexterity defends well and Chapman ends up having to push Dexterity into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Dexterity goes for a double leg but Chapman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Chapman continues to drive forward.
Chapman steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Dexterity.
Dexterity has been working on his balance at MY YARD Resurrect, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Chapman.
Dexterity tries a knee to the head but Chapman blocks it.

Chapman lands a takedown into guard.
Chapman wants to stand but Dexterity is controlling his posture from full guard.
Chapman's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Dexterity really is a fat lump.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dexterity throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Chapman trying to control the position from guard on top but Dexterity is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Chapman won't allow Dexterity to sweep him here.
Chapman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Chapman looking to sit in guard and control but Dexterity gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dexterity might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dexterity tries to free his leg and advance position but Chapman is retaining full guard.
Chapman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dexterity trying to stand up but can't free himself from Chapman's guard.
Dexterity loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dexterity wants to pass the guard but Chapman is keeping the position.
Chapman is adopting a defensive guard.
Chapman trying to keep a closed guard but Dexterity is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Dexterity shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chapman sprawls well. Chapman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dexterity gets slowly back to his feet.

Dexterity throws a leg kick

and Chapman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Dexterity wants to get back to his feet.

Dexterity actively working from the bottom here.
Chapman is controlling the pace.
Dexterity is trying to stand.

Dexterity is trying to control but can't.
Dexterity is looking for a sweep. Chapman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Chapman wants to work for an arm triangle but Dexterity is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chapman in particular looking to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Chapman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dexterity to the mat! Dexterity manages to get full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Max Chapman will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Dexterity shoots in for a takedown but Chapman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Dexterity clinches.
Chapman is pushing Dexterity up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Dexterity is trying to push Chapman away but Chapman has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Chapman trying to land knees to the body.
Dexterity lands a body shot in the clinch.

Chapman has Dexterity pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Chapman pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Dexterity tumbling to the mat - Chapman dives into Dexterity's guard.
Chapman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Dexterity makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dexterity.
Chapman wants to stand but Dexterity has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dexterity is looking to stand up but Chapman isn't so interested in that idea.
Dexterity not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Chapman sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dexterity throws a head kick that misses.
Dexterity shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chapman defends it nicely.
Chapman will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Robo Dexterity is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dexterity looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Dexterity or perhaps it was just good defense by Chapman, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robo Dexterity. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Chapman is continuing to stall.
Dexterity preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chapman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dexterity with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Max Chapman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Chapman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dexterity sprawls well initially but Chapman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Dexterity tries to kick Chapman off but Chapman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Chapman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dexterity has managed to free his arm - good work.

Chapman is trying to control. Dexterity wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Dexterity is trying to get back to full guard.

Chapman content to control rather than advance.
Chapman is keen to just control but Dexterity is a slippery customer.
Chapman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Chapman works over Dexterity's head and body with a nice combination.
Chapman moves out of range of the body kick from Dexterity.
Chapman swats away the attempt to clinch by Dexterity.
And Chapman tries to counter it with a takedown but Dexterity pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Dexterity is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Chapman's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Dexterity is refusing to be controlled, as Chapman sits in half guard.

Still in half guard, Chapman seems content to control.
Chapman wants to stand up but Dexterity has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Dexterity wants to improve his position but Chapman is controlling well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nice takedown defense from Chapman. No joy for Dexterity on that attempt.
Dexterity dives in and grabs Chapman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Chapman pushes down on Dexterity's head and hops out.
Dexterity has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robo Dexterity. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dexterity is looking to clinch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Chapman.
Chapman shoots in but Dexterity avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Chapman drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dexterity defends it well.

Chapman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chapman showed some decent athleticism there.
Chapman is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Dexterity is trying to stand back up but Chapman is controlling him
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chapman is trying to control the action in half guard but Dexterity is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Robo Dexterity has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Max Chapman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chapman in particular looking to stall.

Max Chapman decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
