Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kazuo Takashi (ranked 202 p4p, 102 weight class) and Brett Shoenfeld (ranked 15 p4p, 8 weight class). Takashi comes to the cage accompanied by 吉田兄弟 Rising. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kazuo Takashi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brett Shoenfeld!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takashi moves into range and connects with a jab.

Shoenfeld gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Takashi looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Takashi has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Shoenfeld is trying to control the position but Takashi postures up.
Our spies down at at New York Public Gym inform us that Shoenfeld has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Shoenfeld shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Takashi as he avoids it easily.
Shoenfeld has a takedown stuffed.
Shoenfeld tries to score a power double leg takedown but Takashi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shoenfeld somewhat.
Kazuo Takashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brett Shoenfeld.
Shoenfeld shoots for a double leg takedown but Takashi sprawls well. He's pushed Shoenfeld's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Takashi rushes Shoenfeld and presses him up against the cage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Takashi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Takashi jumps into guard, dragging Shoenfeld to the mat.
Shoenfeld controlling from the top position.
Shoenfeld stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takashi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Takashi controls Shoenfeld momentarily but Shoenfeld frees himself.
Shoenfeld must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shoenfeld wants to control from the top but Takashi keeps moving.
Shoenfeld stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takashi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Shoenfeld is looking for a kimura but Takashi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shoenfeld to get the leverage.
Shoenfeld slows the pace down in half guard.
Shoenfeld trying to control the action but Takashi is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Shoenfeld seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Takashi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Shoenfeld tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Shoenfeld manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Takashi on his heels. He'll look to pass Takashi's guard now, I'm sure.
Shoenfeld pushes down on Takashi's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Takashi is looking to improve his position.
Shoenfeld is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Shoenfeld trying to control but Takashi is having none of it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Shoenfeld stuffs the takedown.
Shoenfeld feints the counter takedown.
Brett Shoenfeld is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Takashi forces Shoenfeld back against the cage and clinches.

Takashi jumps into guard, dragging Shoenfeld to the mat.
Shoenfeld trying to control the position from guard on top but Takashi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Takashi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shoenfeld defends it easily.

Shoenfeld might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Takashi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shoenfeld stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takashi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Takashi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Takashi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shoenfeld can do to turn this around?
Shoenfeld slaps away a takedown attempt from Takashi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Takashi doesn't manage to clinch there - Shoenfeld circles away.

Shoenfeld passes Takashi's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Shoenfeld tries to pass the half guard into mount. Takashi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Shoenfeld is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Takashi looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Shoenfeld has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Takashi defend it? Shoenfeld steps over the head and cranks it - Takashi is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Shoenfeld!
