PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harris Reed (ranked 1067 p4p, 1356 weight class) and Nils Hoglander (ranked 143 p4p, 186 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Beethoven's 5th Symphony. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nils Hoglander!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed sizes up Hoglander with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Hoglander gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hoglander with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Reed to score with a decent uppercut.
Hoglander displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Reed throws out the jab.
Reed slips a jab from Hoglander.

Reed shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hoglander napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hoglander tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reed trying to control the action but Hoglander is working from the bottom.
Reed in side control, throwing shots but Hoglander defends.
Reed lands a decent elbow from side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hoglander wants to control but Reed postures up.

Hoglander is trying to improve his position.
Hoglander told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Reed trying to control the position but Hoglander is working away.
Reed lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hoglander down.
Hoglander is looking for a sweep.
Hoglander is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Hoglander is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Reed asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Reed wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hoglander, who protects the arm well.

Reed tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reed has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Reed scores with punches from side control.
Hoglander managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Reed.
Reed creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The strikes coming from Reed are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Reed is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hoglander knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Reed has hold of Hoglander's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Hoglander seems comfortable defending it but Reed has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Hoglander is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Hoglander is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Reed couldn't care less - he's delighted!
