PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sss Sss (ranked 4626 p4p, 5508 weight class) and Sss Sss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sss Sss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sss Sss!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Fighter A with a lazy takedown attempt
and Fighter B counters with a two punch combo.
Fighter A fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown but Fighter B shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sss Sss. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fighter B dives in and scores a takedown into Fighter A's guard.

Fighter B stands and steps away. Fighter A gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown but Fighter B shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fighter B replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Fighter A blocks it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fighter B gets caught napping as Fighter A dives in and scores a takedown. Fighter B manages to retain guard.
Fighter A slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Fighter A seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fighter B for as long as he can get away with.
Fighter B wants to stand but Fighter A is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Fighter A dives into side control.
Fighter B tries to escape but Fighter A is in control.
Fighter A moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B is trying to get back to his feet.
Fighter A working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Fighter B is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Fighter A has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Fighter A controls the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Fighter B wants to control but Fighter A postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fighter B dives in for a single leg takedown but Fighter A sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Fighter A shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter A perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sss Sss will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Fighter B gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fighter A to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Fighter B wants to stand but Fighter A is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fighter A controls the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fighter A accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fighter A is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sss Sss overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fighter A's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Fighter A darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Fighter B is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fighter B is looking to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter A looks to land a strike but Fighter B avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Fighter A controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sss Sss dominated that second round.
That's time! Fighter A's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Fighter B lands a nice looking body kick.

Fighter B fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Fighter A to the ground. Fighter B is now in Fighter A's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B trying to control but Fighter A is working from the bottom.
Fighter A managing to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter B wants to stand and escape but instead Fighter A has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fighter B is wriggling around but Fighter A manages to pass to half guard.
Fighter B is trying to stand back up but Fighter A is controlling him
Fighter A takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Fighter A content to control rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
No luck for Fighter A with that takedown attempt.
Fighter A shoots in but no luck this time.
Fighter B thinks about the counter body kick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fighter B is defended easily by Fighter A.
It appears Fighter A was looking to counter with a kick there.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sss Sss.
I think Fighter A has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
