Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matthew Albans !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes moves out of range as Albans throws a body kick.
As Albans backs off Hughes throws a huge counter combo but Albans manages to avoid it all.
No luck for Albans with that takedown attempt.
Hughes tries for a takedown but Albans sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hughes looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hughes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hughes avoids a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Albans closes the distance and clinches.
Albans blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Albans lands with a light punch inside.
Albans lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Albans breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hughes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Albans manages to avoid it.
Hughes has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Hughes jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Albans drives through and clinches with Hughes against the cage.
Albans scores with a shot to the side of Hughes's head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hughes.
Hughes throws an elbow but it misses.
Hughes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Albans fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Albans closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hughes tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Albans avoids it.
Hughes wants to stall.
Albans pushes Hughes back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Albans gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Albans is trying for a kimura here. Hughes looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Albans wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Matthew Albans !
Matthew Albans decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
