PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sebastion Lynar (ranked 2126 p4p, 1940 weight class) and Trane Knox (ranked 273 p4p, 251 weight class). Knox comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Blue World | John Coltrane kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Sebastion Lynar could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Trane Knox's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sebastion Lynar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trane Knox!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lynar.
Knox keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Knox rushes Lynar and presses him up against the cage.
Lynar scores with a shot to the side of Knox's head.
Lynar changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Knox fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sebastion Lynar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lynar drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Lynar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Knox throws out the jab.
Lynar shoots in for a takedown but Knox shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Knox digs a good hook to Lynar's body.

Knox swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Knox throws a hook but Lynar avoids it easily.

Lynar shoots in and gets a takedown into Knox's guard.
Lynar tries to free his leg and advance position but Knox is retaining full guard.
Knox can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lynar controls the pace.

Lynar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Knox swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Knox trying to keep a closed guard but Lynar is proving a slippery customer.
Knox is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lynar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Lynar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Knox throws a shot from downtown. Lynar moves away and avoids it.

Lynar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Lynar goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Knox rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Lynar's guard! Nice work there by Knox!

Lynar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Knox doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Knox manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Sebastion Lynar will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Lynar fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Knox pushes Lynar back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Knox is trying to force a seperation but Lynar has the dominant position.
Lynar is trying to pull guard but Knox turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Knox is trying to maintain a safe position but Lynar gets an underhook and turns Knox into the cage.
Knox throws a head punch that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knox cracks Lynar with a nice body shot.

Lynar has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Knox clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
I really don't envy Knox right now.

I would not like to be Knox right now.

Lynar goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Knox escapes and is now in half guard on top.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Knox wants to take a breather but Lynar is having none of it.

Lynar manages to get to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lynar is on top in guard.

Lynar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Knox swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lynar wants to control from the top but Knox keeps moving.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Knox doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Knox throws a lazy right hand but Lynar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lynar changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Lynar shoots in looking for a takedown. Knox tries to sprawl out of it but Lynar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Knox manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Knox swings for the body but Lynar moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Knox punishes Lynar's body with a nice straight punch.

Knox drives through and clinches with Lynar against the cage.
Knox wants to stall.

Knox tries to work over Lynar's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Knox's coach down at Alpha Brasil was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Knox's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Lynar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Knox smiles and moves away.

Knox is looking to control Lynar's arms but Lynar gets an underhook and turns him. Now Knox has his back to the cage.

Knox doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Knox tries to work over Lynar's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Lynar managing to block the knees to the body from Knox.
Knox can't find room to land a body shot as Lynar controls the action.
Knox manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Knox misses with a hook to the ribs.
The referee calls for Knox to work.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Knox.
Knox lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Lynar backwards.

Knox has a couple of punches blocked by Lynar.
Still in the clinch, Knox scores with a nice short uppercut.

Lynar has picked Knox up - he's going for a ride! Lynar dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Lynar is keen to just control but Knox is a slippery customer.
Trane Knox has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lynar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Knox's guard.
Lynar uses his free foot to push down on Knox's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Knox.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lynar content just to control the position here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Trane Knox comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lynar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Sebastion Lynar spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
In defeat, Trane Knox stepped up to the mic, saying '"If you haven't lost in this sport, you haven't fought the right guys yet." (Matt Hughes) '.
