Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dom Cruz (ranked 1021 p4p, 635 weight class) and Gauthier Delisle (ranked 62 p4p, 42 weight class). The key to victory for Dom Cruz has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dom Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gauthier Delisle!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Cruz.
We've been hearing reports that Cruz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Cruz's corner calls for a 1-2. Cruz obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Cruz cracks Delisle with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Cruz throws a jab but it's blocked by Delisle.
Delisle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cruz as he jumps to the side.

Cruz lands with a hook. Delisle tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Cruz throws a nice looking combination but Delisle bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
And Delisle tries to counter it with a takedown but Cruz pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Cruz fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Delisle on the side of the head.

A looping hook to the body misses from Cruz. Delisle does a little dance to reset his feet.
Delisle takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd cheers as Cruz lands an impressive looking overhand right. Delisle doesn't seem phased though.

Dom Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gauthier Delisle.

Delisle has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Cruz throws a combination. Delisle tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Delisle drops his hands momentarily and Cruz takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

so Delisle counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Delisle wants to pass the guard but Cruz is keeping the position.

Cruz is looking for a sweep. Delisle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Cruz manages to work his way to half guard, despite Delisle's best efforts.
Cruz is concentrating on defense, preventing Delisle from advancing position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Delisle drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cruz defends it well.
Cruz scores with the left hand. Delisle knows he should have avoided that one.
Cruz lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Cruz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Delisle tries to avoid it but Cruz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Delisle to the ground. Delisle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Delisle lands a nice short elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Delisle is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cruz defends it well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Delisle with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
