PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carter Wright (ranked 201 p4p, 403 weight class) and Kyle Switzer (ranked 25 p4p, 61 weight class). Switzer has chosen The Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carter Wright! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kyle Switzer! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Switzer throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Wright connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Switzer misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Wright makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Wright connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Switzer's hands. Switzer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Wright appears to be looking for a big counter. Switzer lands with a thumping leg kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Switzer.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Switzer. Wright swings widly with a right hand
and Switzer counters with a body kick that stops Wright in his tracks momentarily. Switzer drops his hands momentarily and Wright takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Wright moves into the clinch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Switzer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Switzer scores with a jab to the head.
Switzer misses with a straight right.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright walks into a straight right hand from Switzer. Switzer scores with a one two! Wright had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Wright seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Switzer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Kyle Switzer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wright tries to clinch up. Jab from Switzer. Wright pounces like a tiger and cracks Switzer with a vicious hook! Switzer is down but not out! Wright follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Carter Wright! During a confident post fight interview, Carter Wright thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
