Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roman Ship (ranked 2075 p4p, 3744 weight class) and Guido Carosella (ranked 66 p4p, 125 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Guido Carosella was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Roman Ship! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Guido Carosella! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carosella throws a series of punches but Ship moves out of range. Carosella connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Roman Ship has been cut. Carosella swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Carosella works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Carosella looks to throw the jab but Ship is out of range. Carosella misses the shot to the body. Carosella misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Carosella slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Ship throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Ship pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Ship takes the fight into the clinch. Carosella wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ship is trying to pull guard but Carosella turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Ship has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Carosella uses from the top position. Ship has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carosella pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ship is keeping the position for now. Ship looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Carosella has picked Ship up and slammed him! Ship can't keep hold of the triangle and Carosella manages to pass to side control!

Ship is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carosella pulls his head out easily. Ship looking for submissions off his back. Carosella wants to work for an arm triangle but Ship is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Carosella is looking to advance position but Ship won't allow it. Carosella is trying to control. Ship wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Carosella is looking for a kimura here.

No, Carosella has managed to get both his arms back between Ship's legs - danger averted. Carosella trying to control but Ship is working from the bottom. Carosella looking to sit in guard and control but Ship gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ship thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Carosella bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ship's guard. Ship keeping moving, preventing Carosella from controlling successfully. Carosella looking to sit in guard and control but Ship gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Guido Carosella dominated that round. The cut man is working on Roman Ship's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Carosella fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Carosella lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ship circles away quickly and effectively. Ship shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carosella's guard. Ship drops back looking for a leg! Carosella is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carosella manages to kick Ship off! Ship jumps back into Carosella's guard. Carosella is looking for a triangle but Ship pushes his legs off easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ship drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ship jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Carosella has his foot on Ship's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ship works his way back into a safe position though. Ship is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ship is aware though and is defending well. Ship drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ship jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ship advances position into side control! Carosella manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Ship is looking to improve his position.

Ship looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ship!
Ship thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Roman Ship overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ship goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Carosella has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ship but great work by Carosella. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Carosella passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Ship! Carosella is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Ship has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Ship! Carosella had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Ship wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carosella, who protects the arm well. Ship is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carosella knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Ship tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ship has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ship wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carosella, who protects the arm well. Carosella manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ship's best efforts.
